CALL TO ACTION – morality bills

Legislators are reporting that they are NOT hearing from conservatives on these important bills. If you want one or more of these bills to become law, it is important that your legislators hear from you this weekend.

1.) SB 43: classifies drag performances as adult-oriented businesses. See prior action call and additional information here: https://reopenarkansas.org/2023/01/19/call-to-action-drag-performances/

2.) HB 1156: requires school students to use the correct restroom. This will be voted on in the House Education Committee on Tuesday and should go to the floor of the House quickly. https://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/Bills/Detail?id=HB1156&ddBienniumSession=2023%2F2023R&Search=

Contact all R House members if you can: https://reopenarkansas.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/2023-House-Republicans-by-name-PDF.pdf

3.) SB 81: makes it a crime to furnish obscene material to minors, specifically involving woke librarians. This will be debated in the Senate Judiciary committee soon. It’s a great bill to help restore parents’ rights. https://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/Bills/Detail?id=SB81&ddBienniumSession=2023%2F2023R&Search=

If you would like to see one or more of these bills passed, please contact your legislators THIS WEEKEND. Reference the bill #s in your text or email and say “SUPPORT.” As always, be polite and succinct. We believe most of the Republicans favor these bills, but they are hearing primarily from opposition. Please reach out and encourage our legislators.

Who to contact in order of priority:

First, the Republican committee members (see links above).

Second, your OWN State Senator and State Representative. (see Contact Lists): https://reopenarkansas.org/contact-lists/

Third, contact the remaining Republican members of the House and Senate (see Contact Lists) https://reopenarkansas.org/contact-lists/

We apologize for the volume of action calls, but the session is moving very quickly, and your legislators need to know that conservatives have their back. More will follow soon. Always check the pinned post.

  1. These bills should be common sense needed only to be passed. Send out another list with names of the idiots that voted against them! Thanks!

    1. They need encouragement from us. Remember, we have a lot of fence-sitters in the legislature, especially in the House. Don’t risk these bills failing by assuming they will do the right thing. But yes, we will post the names of any R’s who vote against the bills. Most, if not all, D’s will vote against.

    2. Common sense, yes! But the Republican legislators need encouragement which is not to much to ask since the left is so vocal and presently the majority that is showing up to voice their opinions.

    3. So far no one has but they are just getting started in committees mostly. We just need legislators to hear from us! The other side is definitely contacting them. We hope they know to vote this way but it can’t hurt to encourage and remind them!.

  2. SB43 is good for what is does, but it doesn’t go far enough. This bill needs to be strengthened now or in the future. If you look at the exact wording and listen to the house committee hearing, it only prohibits drag performances that contain overt sexual content and seminudity. It would not prevent all drag queen story hours for children. We’ve got to wise up and stop fighting with halfway efforts. Drag queens should not be allowed to have any access to children in any events, period. They are grooming and we’d better wise up to that.
